This Wednesday, April 29th, is a Public Education Day of Action!  OSSTF District 18 will be joining our colleagues in Upper Grand ETFO, Wellington OECTA, and many others across Ontario, to stand together in support of publicly funded education and to make our voices visible in our communities!

We encourage all members to participate in at least one of the following actions identified below.

For each action you take, take photos!  Use hashtags like #Red4Ed and #EducationDayofAction if posting to social media. Send photos to District 18 Political Action Officer (and TBU 1st VP) Amy Reinders (amy.reinders@d18.osstf.ca) to be entered to win 1 of at least 20 prizes!

Action 1 – Wear Red!

Action 2 – Local Walks of Awareness

  • Meet up with colleagues from neighbouring schools for a short (approx. 20-minute) walk or demonstration in your local community at the end of the school day, visibly sporting your Red 4 Ed!  Chat with others and hear their stories of how underfunding is impacting their worksites! Locations include:

    • Guelph

      • Victoria Road & Cassino Road

      • Edinburgh Road & London Road

      • Gordon Street & Clair Road

    • Erin

      • Dundas Street & Main Street

    • Shelburne

      • Parkette Across from Grace Tipling Hall (Main Street & William Street)

Action 3 - Join a Public Education Day of Action Demonstration

  • From 3:45pm to 4:30/5pm, head to a local Public Education Day of Action demonstration (perhaps even after a neighbourhood walk of awareness).  Grab a flag or a placard, and show off your red!  Locations include:

    • Guelph

      • Stone Road & Edinburgh Road (park at Stone Road Mall)

    • Fergus

      • MPP Joseph Racinsky's Office - 181 St. Andrew St. E

    • Orangeville

      • MPP Sylvia Jones' Office - 180 Broadway Ave.

Thank you for your continued engagement and solidarity. We hope to see strong participation across all sites!
