If you are a D18 Secondary Teacher with even one period of contract this year, you are eligible to apply for reimbursement. Just click on the link below.
The Application Process Has Changed
The first thing you will need to do is attach your receipt before filling in the remainder of the application. There is no longer a paper option for receipts. So, if you do not have a picture or PDF of the receipt, create one by scanning your receipt to PDF (this can be done on school photocopiers) or take a clear picture of the receipt. Your application cannot be submitted without a receipt. If you need assistance, please consult with your branch Ed Services Rep or, if you have no rep, then the TBU Ed Services Officer.
And remember, you can apply more than once per school year up to the yearly maximum. Your yearly maximum is calculated based on the number of contract sections this year divided by 6. The yearly maximum will be set at the Ed Services Committee meeting in October. Please note that no payments will be made until the yearly maximum is set.
What we fund
We provide reimbursement for PD which is:
• designed to develop teachers as teachers
OSSTF Ed. Services Committee limits the support to REGISTRATION FEES ONLY. We do not fund materials, food, transportation or accommodations.
What we do not fund
We do not provide funding for AQ courses because these potentially lead to a salary increase and generate a tax credit. Nor do we provide funding for ABQ, college or university courses because these generate a tax credit. EXCEPTION: courses that are designed to develop teachers as teachers which are audited and for which a tax receipt will not be issued, may qualify for funding.
Any concerns about whether a PD opportunity is covered should be discussed with the Educational Services representative at your school.
