Support for Bill 239 – Stay Home If You Are Sick Act

Peggy Sattler, MPP for London West, has introduced Bill 239 – “Stay Home If You Are Sick Act” last December 2020. This private member’s bill calls for 7 permanent paid sick days, and an additional 14 days during a public health emergency, like the current COVID-19 crisis.

The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) has requested affiliated unions to action to show support for this bill, which is also supported by the Ontario Liberal Party and Green Party of Ontario. The actions include:

1. Sign Peggy’s Petition to show your support of this bill.

2. Email Your MPP through the OFL"s “Resume the Legislature” tool, which calls on the Ford government to immediately return to the legislature to implement our legislative priorities which include - passing Peggy’s paid sick day legislation, fixing the long term care crisis, and building and funding a safer education plan.

This bill is an important step in ensuring the continued health and well-being of workers during the current COVID-19 pandemic by granting the ability to stay home to help stop the spread.
